Frequently Asked Questions

Questions, Concerns, and Answers

What prevents doctors from tampering with their data or manipulating it to make themselves look better, and thus skew the information gathered?

While this is possible, it is very unlikely. The data inputted will ultimately affect the effectiveness of the doctor, and nobody wants to have unsatisfactory results. Attempting to skew the data only hurts doctors and their patients in the long run.

I’m already busy. I don’t have time to do data entry.

The information gained will actually speed up your process. Instead of having to generate the table setup in your head when you look at a listing card, it would already be generated for you. Additionally, many doctors have their chiropractic assistant do the data entry.

Other programs set out to be research-minded, but have struggled getting quality data due to doctors incorrectly inputting data. What makes Sonus different?

Sonus is mandated in the whole technique. Where those other programs failed is that there was no accountability associated with it.

I don’t do EPIC. Can I use Sonus? Can I use it to compare other techniques?

Unfortunately, not at this time. Sonus is currently exclusively used with EPIC.

We look forward to a time when we can compare without emotions getting involved and reigniting the technique wars. To do this would require an immense amount of collaboration, which we believe is possible in the future. Our hope is that the UC diplomate program will be the platform for accomplishing this.

I feel apprehensive with quality assurance, as it feels like someone is always watching over my shoulder

This has not been the result. Sonus has had the opposite effect, because doctors typically feel alone in the field and want support on cases more intimately. Readily having support has helped doctors quickly gain confidence and rapidly improve their skills.

I feel like relying on Sonus would be cheating the system, or negate me to technician duties instead of allowing me to focus on patient care

It can seem like you are “cheating” by using the program, however we like to think of Sonus as a blueprint that can be altered if the doctor feels it necessary. Sonus will get you 90% there, but there is still an “Art” to the EPIC technique. The goal is to have the program be a tool, and not a crutch.

There is a reason we train doctors and students the “Why of EPIC” in Bootcamp. Knowing this information, you become a better doctor and can help us evolve the technique as a whole. Being a technician at first is not a bad thing though, as it helps you become skilled with the complex system within the technique. Sonus will accelerate your ability to learn the technique’s technical side.

How much does it cost?

Students will always have the Student Edition of Sonus Blueprint for free

Doctors can purchase their license for $100/month.

How much time is needed to input patient’s information?

This varies with computer skills, but typically 1-2 minutes per patient.

Is it easy to use?

It’s simple data entry. You’ve already scrutinized your x-rays, this is simply converting your hard work into your game plan so you don’t have to create it while the patient is on the table.

Who is looking at my data?

You have full access to your data. You also have the EPIC board members available to help you out, ensuring your personal success in your practice. Most doctors love the assistance, as it helps them not feel alone when they are working with patients. They have access to the technique leadership to quickly assist them with their cases.
